BRASS BAND FESTIVAL - June 9 - 12 This annual four
day festival features the nation’s greatest brass bands in free
performances all day long. Sit on a blanket in the park & listen
to music by day, attend a play at Pioneer Playhouse at night.
SHAKERTOWN - This restored Shaker Village features
a self guided tour of breathtaking Shaker architecture, history, furniture
and crafts. Lunch at Shaker Village is by reservation only and features
recipes from the 17th century--we highly recommend the double crust Shaker
Lemon Pie for desert!
PERRYVILLE BATTLEFIELD - Enjoy lunch at Elmwood Inn,
featuring homemade teas and preserves, then tour the state’s most
legendary Civil War Museum & Battlefield--on weekends, Perryville
shops and boutiques are open & worth a wander. Stop at antique shops
along the way, one rickety old store (on the right hand side, about a
mile before the Battlefield) has THE BEST stuff...at pre-ebay prices!
HARRODSBURG/ FORT HARROD - Kentucky’s first
pioneer settlement has been faithfully restored. Learn of the hardships
endured and the legacy left behind. Have lunch at nearby Beaumont Inn
and wander through the shops and antique stores of downtown Harrodsburg.
WEEKEND IN DANVILLE: Visit any of the above. In addition:
visit Old Crow Inn, a historic bed & breakfast, winery & pottery
barn. Spend the night at Old Crow Inn, (Pioneer Playhouse is only 500
yards away) --the JFK Natural History Museum & Trading Post is just
a stone’s throw down the road!
Fun Day Trips (an hour from Danville): America’s oldest country
store (Forkland), Amish crafts & Amish all-you-can-eat-buffet (Forkland),
Lexington: shop at great stores and visit famous Horse Farms and race

Berea is an hour away from Danville. Berea is home of the famous Kentucky
