Dock Brown - Legend of an Outlaw - In 1842 Gillium Hopper, Jr., alias "Dock
Brown" came to this rural community of Pine Knob along with his
brother Pinkney and his father Gillium Hopper, Sr. alias "John
Brown". These men won the hearts of everyone with their charm,
good looks, and wealth. Unknown to residents of the county and state,
they were in fact wanted men from McMinville, TN. However, for the
next 9 years the Browns would become one of the most well liked families
in Grayson County, KY. Dock Brown would eventually marry Emily Ross,
the mayor of Leitchfield's daughter, killing his brother for her love,
and then killing his own father to cover up his wrong doings. Travelers
passing through the area would be killed for their belongings and buried
in nearby Big Mouth Cave. Although the story is a gruesome tale, the
life story told on stage at Pine Knob captures the charm and comedy
of this infamous outlaw. The cast bring music, dance, comedy, history,
and drama to life on stage complete with a log cabin, church, and hotel
as part of the set for this true life story of "Dock Brown - Legend
of an Outlaw". This is the outdoor drama that opened the theatre
in 1987, a true story about the community that happened on the theatre
grounds.
LARD - "Lucy And Ruth's Diner" - If you remember the 50s & 60s
then "LARD" is sure to please. Two sisters, Lucy and Ruth,
after giving up on being school teachers, open their own Diner only
to be pestered by two locals, namely Junior and Guthrie, who run the
local Gas Station. Lucy's daughter, Georgette, is running for the school
fair queen at old SKY-High (Southern Ky High School). Freddy, the local
dork, is visited by his cool cousin Ernie from the city creating a
lot of competition for the high school girls, and Mad Man Mac, the
local Radio DJ, is worried about country music taking over the Rock
N Roll. You can't have a play such as this without Bertie Mae, the
local hair dresser at the Snooty Fox Salon, who is always up to date
with the gossip. All these ingredients lead to a great musical with
a lot of comedy. Complete with vintage 55 & 56 T-Birds, motorcycle,
and Mac's 56 Ford Crown Vic, this play will make you feel young all
over again. Will Lucy and Ruth get even with the pranks played by Junior
and Guthrie? Will Sharon or Sandra get a date with Ernie? And, will
Junior get his raise so he can take Bertie Mae out? Could be!!!
Down In Hoodoo Holler - Growing up in Pine Knob, Honus Shain, the
playwright, listened to the men folk gathered around the checker board
by the pot bellied
stove at the country store. Remembering the folklore the men told has led
to this hilarious story. - In 1932 a city slicker, J. Roy Hunt, borrowed
his uncle's
Model A Ford, drove to Hoodoo Holler in search of "Dock Brown's" Gold.
It seems he found some maps and riddles about the gold in a library book. Everyone
in Hoodoo Holler, a nickname given to Pine Knob, spend the summer trying to
figure out the riddles and maps to locate the gold. Grandma and Grandpa Doolin,
Uncle Ira and Aunt Lilly, Willis and Essie, and Goldie Mae and her sisters
invite J. Roy to spend the summer with them at their house while he looks for
the gold. We can't tell you anymore without giving away clues to the story.
But, set in the 30s, complete with a 32 Model A Ford, this story is full of
nostalgia.

Motor In Diner instead of the library. Will Daddy take the T-Bird away? Will
